Email Configuration and Usage
The purpose of this discussion is to help you (1) configure iDempiere to connect to your email server, (2) learn how iDempiere uses email communication, and (3) find code example of creating emails in iDempiere.EMail Configuration
- Using GMail as your server? Review the below pages for details to overcome the "Sign-in attempt prevented" error message.
- You maintain multiple clients. "GardenWorld" is an example client. "System" is the other. If you want your server to send emails from server related items, make sure you configure you "System" Client record to connect to your email server as well.
- Let's use Alerts as an example.
- You can configure your alerts in your "GardenWorld" Client. However, you can use the "System" Alert Processor. If you do, the System will run the actual process, and it will use the "System" client email configuration to send the alert.
- Note that the Password Reset option (LOGIN_SHOW_RESETPASSWORD) in System Configurator uses the System client. If the System Client email config fields are not set, the reset password process will fail.
- Having said the above, you can also create an Alert Processor record in the "GardenWorld" client as well.
EMail Tips and Tricks
- Set the Client window => Request Email field to represent who the email is coming from.
- Use the following format (without the quotes) to include a name: "Chuck Boecking <chuck@chuboe.com>".
- If you just include the email address, the system will use the email as both the name and the email when business partners see the email in their inbox.
