Financial Statements by Project, Department, etc...

The purpose of this page is to help you understand how to create financial reports where you have multiple projects, departments or other sub-categories as columns in your report. Creating reports this way helps prevent you from having to create a separate report per category. The biggest concept to understand is that the Report Column Set window => Report Column sub-tab has a field called Column Type. By setting this field to 'Segment Value', you can choose that column's type. If you want to limit a given column to a given department (using Activity), then set Type field to 'Activity' and set the Activity field to the desired Activity value. You can create a column for every department in your company. Your last column can be the sum of all departments present (Type = 'Calculation'). Be aware there is a limit to how many columns you can create. The current limitation is about 19 columns. If you need to print more columns, you can create a process that automates the financial report printing for each department or project. For example, if you operate a company that supports between 40 and 100 open project at any one time, you can automate the printing of each project financial report in a single process. Deepak or another developer could create this custom process pretty quickly and easily. I hope this helps!
